Master UFC Point Spread Betting at DraftKings Sportsbook
If you’re a UFC fan, you now have a new way to bet on the fights. DraftKings Sportsbook has introduced UFC Point Spread betting, which offers an alternative to the traditional Moneyline bet. This new bet type takes the judges’ scorecards into account to determine the winner of the bet in the event that the fight is not finished and requires a decision via the judges’ scorecards.
Here’s how it works: if a three-round fight requires a decision via the judges’ scorecards, the Point Spread will be applied to the fighter’s combined total points. For example, if all three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Fighter A and the Point Spread is Fighter A -3.5, Fighter A will be the loser and Fighter B with a Point Spread of +3.5 will be the winner. However, if a fighter wins via knockout, submission, or disqualification, then the Point Spread on that fighter will be a winning bet.
UFC Point Spreads can be found under Fight Lines on DraftKings Sportsbook. The scoring criteria for a UFC fight includes three judges’ scorecards, which are assigned based on factors such as effective striking and grappling. The 10-Point Must System is used to assign these scorecards, with the winner of the round receiving 10 points and the loser receiving nine points or less. Even rounds can also be scored 10-10.
According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, a 10-8 round in MMA is where one fighter wins the round by a large margin. The Nevada State Athletic Commission also defines dominance and damage in their scoring criteria for a fight.
UFC Point Spreads offer users a more efficient way to bet on favorites and underdogs, providing a higher potential payout than betting on the Moneyline when targeting favorites. They can also be helpful when betting on an underdog in the event the underdog makes the fight more competitive than anticipated.
